Hey there! If you’re here, you know the drill. This is our official blog where we promote our projects, talk openly and, like that girl group from the 90s, spice up your life.
This section of our blog will be dedicated to promoting our team, in any way they want to. We’re going to question them about themselves, their life, their hobbies and obviously provide some juicy details too.
It’s gonna be a weekly thing, so stay tuned if you want to get to know us a little better.
This week we’re going to talk to one of our designers, Vilău Adrian Junior, or as we like to call him, Adi. It’s no surprise that he’s a bit of an eclectic, passionate about streetwear and into what all the young people listen to. Let’s not forget about accessorizing: all those hats and bandanas, man.
Jokes aside, let’s get right to it!
CS: Hey there, Adi! Let’s start with the basics. Age, height, zodiac sign, life goals, why are your eyes so green and why so many bandanas?
A: I’m a 24 year old aspiring Brand Designer, ~179cm tall and capriCORNY. A lot of my family members have brightly colored eyes. Probably mutants or something. And about the bandana thing, tbh I’ve played way too many RPG games. That’s why I love accessorizing. I feel like I’m equipping my character.
CS: What music are the young kids into? Especially you.
A: IDK about the other kids, but I’m into techno, ro-minimal and some other electronic genres. I also love old school and new school hip-hop, alternative rock and a little bit of everything. As you can probably tell, music is a big thing for me, so I’m always open to discovering new stuff. Here’s a taste of it:
CS: How would you explain your job to an alien? Or to your grandma?
A: Well, it’s pretty difficult, but I’ll try. I’m like a barber for companies, that also dresses them, grandma. I’d probably have to explain everything since the beginning of times to an alien to help it understand what a Brand Designer is.
CS: We all love fluffy cridders. Do you have one? What type of fluffer makes you go AWW?
A: I’m gonna try to keep this SFW. It’s kind of hard to decide between cats and dogs. Mainly, because I had both: a dog for 13 years and a cat for 14 years. If I had to choose, I’d say dogs are my favourite because they’re more chill and they love the crap out of you without expecting anything in return. Beavers are also nice. Oops! I TRIED, OK?
CS: What are your pet peeves? Tell us what can make you go from chill to kill in a second.
A: I got pretty thick skin. I usually join in when I’m getting roasted. The only problem I have is with demanding people and being taken for granted.
CS: Why are you a designer? And what makes your style so unique?
A: Well, tbh I decided to do Design when I was about 20 years old. Although, I’ve always been into visual arts and spent most of my spare time on the computer either editing stuff in Photoshop, making game montages and other video editing, or creating animations. You know, just for fun. So you can imagine that when opportunity struck, I saw it as a way to do more of the things I love. I still see it that way! I think projects are similar to games, in the way that have to find intricate and creative ways to finish them.
About style, in my opinion, it’s getting harder and harder to be unique. I think I aim to create memorable, eye-catching minimalist designs, with a creative twist.
CS: Are you into Art? What kind of art? Memes don’t count.
A: Yes, m’am! I love everything Art related. Lately, I’ve really been into vintage ads. Especially because they got that nostalgic feel to them. And those bright colors, man! Love them!
CS: If you’d have to organize an exhibition of your best work, what projects would you display there? Show us right now, young man!
A: Hmmmm. Hmmmmmmmmm. Let’s say: Blackstone, DirectBooking and as of late, I’ve been extremely happy and honored to work on our own Cromatic Studios rebranding.
DIRECT BOOKING BRANDING
CS: If you had to write a short description about yourself, using 10 words, what would those words be? One has to be bandanas or dope, right?
A: Overthinking, honest, creative, rational, sceptic, observant, self-aware, competitive, curious and laid-back. Well, describing myself felt a bit awkward. I’ve never done this before.
CS: Netflix and chill topic. What do you watch? What’s the last show you binged and what do you have on your binging list?
A: I used to watch A LOT of shows, but fortunately I don’t do that anymore. It was really time consuming. But, I think the last show I watched was Ozark or Ray Donovan. I’m thinking of giving Stranger Things a try.
CS: We know you put time and effort into your outfits. Tell us about your fashion inspiration. Who inspires you?
A: Ha! Thanks for noticing! I don’t really have someone who inspires me. I don’t like copying other people’s styles. It’s more like this: if I see somebody wearing something I like, I take it and adapt it to my own style. I think I can describe it as a combination of streetwear, preppy and indie. You can say that I’m inspired by these cultures.
CS: Do you have any big dreams? You know, like, are you planning on inventing interdimensional cable?
A: I actually do and it’s related to the previous question. Ready? I’d like to start my own brand of clothes someday! SOON! So stay tuned!
CS: Since when have you been part of the Cromatic team? How would you describe your place here. We also need a funny story attached to that.
A: I’m celebrating 3 years of being a Cromatic boi this month! Wow, time really flies when you’re having fun, man! It’s been a rollercoaster with more ups than downs.
I went to the job interview dressed in pink shorts and a goofy t-shirt and only realised halfway to the office that I should’ve probably dressed more corporate or whatever, but it was too late. Of course, after meeting the guys and everything, I immediately understood that it’s a different kind of office. It’s a place where everybody does their own thing without being judged. It’s an office where you can be as weird as you want to as long as you don’t disturb others.
Looking back, I’m really glad I went to that interview.
CS: Besides work, fashion and obviously good music, what do you do with your free time? Any good hobbies? Seriously, we need some suggestions.
A: I used to spend a lot of time playing video games. Like A LOT. I used to play a lot more when I was younger, but now it’s more casual than it used to be. I’m also into sports, especially football. I can talk about it for days. Besides that, I’m a pretty basic guy.
CS: Any last words?
A: This was really fun! It made me remember things and appreciate them more, but also kind of made me daydream about what the future holds. BLANĂ!
